In the Solar Decathlon hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy, designs from New Zealand have come to the fore in numerous entries.
The design is inspired by the traditional New Zealand vacation huts, named "First Light", which reflects a relaxed and casual lifestyle and promotes the integration of mind, body and nature. Designers use solar energy to achieve the convergence of external natural conditions and internal facility functions. The cabin is mainly made of wood materials, which fully shows the concept of energy saving and environmental protection. It mainly uses solar panels for power supply and heating.
The purpose of the “solar decathlon competition†is to integrate solar energy, energy conservation, and architectural design in a new and integrated manner with the help of the world’s top R&D and design team’s ideas to prove that even a house solely relying on solar energy can be fully functional. Comfortable and sustainable living space to promote energy-saving emission reduction technology development and practical progress. (China Low Carbon News reported)
