Vale's iron ore output increased by 4.2% in the third quarter

Vale, the world's largest iron ore producer, said on October 17 that iron ore production continued to rise in the third quarter. Affected by the floods, the company's iron ore output in 2012 saw a sharp drop. In its filings with regulators, Vale said that iron ore production in the third quarter reached 83.9 million tons, an increase of 4.2% from the second quarter, mainly due to the increase in mine production in southeastern Brazil affected by the flood.
