The researchers were inspired by mixing two diarylethylene molecules to create a crystalline film, which successfully simulated the surface structure of this termite wing. This kind of film can absorb tiny water droplets with a diameter of less than 100 microns similar to fog droplets in nature, and form larger water droplets for collection and utilization.
