China National Nuclear Corporation, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, China National Nuclear Industry Construction Corporation and other key domestic nuclear energy development and construction companies recently gathered in Xinjiang for project signing and inspections to attract these leading companies in addition to mines, coal, etc. Locally enriched wind, solar and other new energy sources.
China National Nuclear Corporation is the main force of China's nuclear industry and the main investor in nuclear power plants. During this trip to Xinjiang, China National Nuclear Corporation and local companies signed a total of 15 billion yuan in projects, including construction of 10 million tons of coal mines in Yili and 2×1 million kilowatts of coal power projects, and 200,000 kilowatts of wind power in Hami’s first phase of the project. The investment in these two projects was 10.5 billion yuan and 4 billion yuan respectively.
"We will also invest 500-600 million yuan in the construction of the Yili Construction* mine. The future output may reach 500 tons." Qiu Jiangang, deputy general manager of CNNC, told reporters.
Regarding whether or not nuclear power plants will be built in Xinjiang in the future, Qiu Jiangang’s attitude is more cautious. He said that the construction of nuclear power plants requires many conditions such as traffic and water resources. "We are exploring possibilities."
China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group also signed a 2.44 billion yuan wind power and photovoltaic "big single" with Xinjiang, and its clean energy development strategy continues to advance. The wind power projects signed by Zhang Shanming, general manager of China General Nuclear Power, were distributed in Dabancheng and Toksun wind districts around Urumqi and Altay in northern Xinjiang, generating 110 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year. Optoelectronic projects were distributed in Hami and Qinghe counties. And Yingjisha County in Kashi Prefecture.
Zu Bin, deputy general manager of China Nuclear Industry Construction Corporation, and Shi Jialin, deputy general manager of China National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, also visited Xinjiang. Although the two companies have not yet signed specific investment projects with Xinjiang, they have also kept a high degree of attention to local resource endowments and development trends.
After the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan broke out, the State Council suspended the approval of nuclear power projects and conducted a special safety inspection of the operating nuclear power plants. In the future, whether nuclear power projects can be re-thawed and whether they will be far from coastal re-distribution are causing speculation and concern among upstream and downstream companies and industry insiders.
This time, the gathering of China's nuclear power leading enterprises in Xinjiang to sign investment projects is one of the measures to implement the Central Government's policy of aiding Xinjiang and take advantage of the role of the central enterprises in promoting the leap-forward development of Xinjiang.
