In the era of diverse automotive products in the world, the characteristics of mold diversification and short mold replacement cycle have become more prominent. At the same time, new requirements have been put forward on stamping technology, which has brought about changes in the production and processing technology of automotive stamping parts.

1. Number of stamping operations

Automotive stampings have good manufacturability and economy. The important indicators for measuring their level are the number of stamping parts, the number and size of the body assembly, and the structure of the stampings. Reducing the number of processes in the stamping process means reducing the number of stampings, saving the number of tooling, simplifying the transfer device for the stamping process, reducing the operator and equipment footprint, etc. It is an excellent measure to save investment and energy consumption, so the stamping manufacturer can The number of stamping processes is an important way to reduce the cost of automobile manufacturing, even at the expense of improving the design of the product to meet the requirements of the manufacturing process. At the same time, it also uses the reasonable total body components of the largest size, such as the left and right side panels and the roof of the monolithic body. The cover plate can make the shape of the automobile more beautiful and practical, reduce the air resistance, reduce the number of stamping parts and solder joints, and effectively reduce the cost.

When formulating the stamping process of a workpiece, the dispersion and concentration of the processing process are more complicated problems. It depends on the batch size, structural shape, quality requirements, process characteristics, etc. of the workpiece. For automotive stampings that are usually mass-produced, a centralized process should be used as much as possible, using composite or progressive die for stamping, which increases productivity and enables safe production. Practical experience shows that for composite molds, the number of processes concentrated on one pair of molds should not be too much, generally 2 to 3 processes, up to 4, for progressive die, the number of concentrated processes can be more because of the mold structure The layout range is more liberal.
