AnalogicTech has released the AAT3174, a high current, high efficiency charge pump for multifunction LED applications. The new device greatly simplifies application design supporting flash and continuous mode by allowing designers to control LEDs with AnalogicTech's Simple Serial ControlTM (S2CwireTM) interface or RSET reset pin. This unique feature allows designers to achieve up to 800mA with an external resistor.
The serial bus provides a powerful tool for driving LEDs, but it still requires designers to spend time learning how to program and develop solutions. Designers who want to quickly and easily develop solutions that support both flash and continuous mode operation can run the AAT3174 between two modes with a simple on/off trigger switch.
The AAT3174 helps maximize power efficiency in a wide range of flare modes by using a combination of 1X, 1.5X and 2X three-mode charge pumps and internal detection circuitry. This allows the AAT3174 to provide higher efficiency than a simple double voltage (2X) charge pump.
