Introduction to membrane structure

Membrane is a new type of building structure developed in the middle of the 20th century. It is made of a variety of high-strength film materials (PVC or Teflon) and reinforcing members (steel frame, steel column or steel cable). A certain form of spatial structure that produces a certain pre-tensioning force to form a certain spatial shape as a covering structure and can withstand a certain external load. Membrane structure can be divided into two categories: aerated membrane structure and tensile membrane structure. The structure of the inflatable membrane is continuously inflated indoors, so that a certain pressure difference is generated between indoor and outdoor (generally between 10mm and 30mm water column), and the pressure difference between indoor and outdoor causes the roof membrane cloth to receive a certain upward buoyancy, thereby achieving a larger span. The tensioning structure is formed by column and steel frame support or steel cable tensioning, and its shape is very beautiful and flexible.
