China developed a nano-film wind power system

The Chinese scientific research team composed of several returned doctors recently used nano-generators to develop nano-membrane wind power generation systems, adding new possible routes to wind power generation. A nano-film generator with an area of about 25 square centimeters, with the aid of the wind of the hair dryer, generates electrical energy through the friction between the thin films, instantaneously lighting more than 900 light-emitting diodes simultaneously.

Nano-generators invented by Wang Zhonglin, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006, have been named as one of the ten most important technologies that can be of equal importance and impact to cell phone inventions in the next 10 to 30 years. In recent years, the research and development boom of nano-generators has been formed in some developed countries, and many research institutes in China have conducted research.

Nano-generators can collect mechanical energy in the environment such as air or water flow, rotation of engines, operation of air conditioners or other machines, and convert them into electrical energy, making it possible to achieve miniaturization of energy systems or self-contained power supplies.

In the past 1 year or so, under the support of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, the R&D team led by Dr. Xu Chuanyi, who returned from China, has conducted extensive research on nano-generators and has developed new types of nano-generators such as piezoelectric, friction, and hybrid types. The machine, the output voltage from the first few millivolts to more than two thousand volts.

The R&D team combined nano-generators and wind power generation, conducted preliminary structural design and storage circuit system research for nano-membrane wind turbines, and conducted preliminary experimental verification. So far, 31 related patents have been applied, “high-power nano-friction generators. 10 items such as "wind power generators" were authorized.

Wind turbines are the core components of wind power generation systems and are important devices for converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. However, conventional wind turbines are bulky, costly, and require high control and maintenance.

“The core component of the nano thin-film wind power generation system is a thin-film nano-generator, which is small in size, light in weight, and highly processable,” said Dr. Zhao Hao, a research and development team leader and former micro-nano device developer in the UK.

Traditional wind turbines collect wind power through windmills and have a single energy harvesting method. Experts pointed out that the nano-film wind power generation system can generate electricity through wind squeezing and frictional nano-films. It can also be combined with traditional solar energy and existing wind power generation systems. It is expected to provide more energy collection methods.

In the next step, researchers plan to strengthen research and development in nano-thin film wind turbine material micro-processing, energy storage control systems, and solar power generation, and accelerate the industrialization process.
